State Bank of India ( SBI ) Deceased account money withdrawal or closer Method.
I had experience in closing of deceased account in SBI in small town of Bihar. On that time, I don't have any information in getting this and I talked to many person including bank staff for getting the exact process.
Now after 4 month, I got the money from decease account and closed the account also.
I would like to share my experience with you, that might be useful

Step 1 : This will be your home work where you need to collect all the details in your home like, passbook, ATM card , cheque book and other things which deceased person got during their time. Also get the death certificate from respective authority.
Step 2 : Go to the respective branch of SBI and first try to get updated your passbook so that You will get to know the exact amount for which you are going to claim.
Step 3 : Contact branch manager or any senior person in branch and get the contact person name in bank who deal with this case.
Step 4: He will give you the list of work you need to do and one big form that you need to fill carefully
Step 5. You also need family details from local block office. In hindi it is called "Bansawali" . May be you need to give bribe here.
Step 6. You need 4 granter who have bank account in the SBI in same town. Out of that for two granter must have good deposit in bank and also rich person . It also depend on amount of deceased account, suppose you are going to claim 5 Lakh then granter income should be like this so that He can be your granter. You also need two more granter.
Here important things is , they can ask the granter Voter id card or and ID card and also properties document copy , otherwise be ready for bribe
Step 7. After 4 week, Somebody from bank come to your home for verification.
Step 8. After verification they will send your document to regional office of SBI, it might takes couple of week depend on their mood
Step 9. Keep contacting bank officer for update. In case everything fine then they will give you cheque and close the account. May be they can ask to open the saving account with same branch.

Can we do this in any branch?
ReplyDeletehi, i have to claim upon my father's account . but in that time i used his atm card for some money as needed urgently. the manager of sbi said to me that i did illegal transactions and i have to pay back the exact same amount as on my father's day of death.
ReplyDeleteand also he asks for a affidavit where i will apologize to the bank for such transactions... and he is asking the same apology from my all siblings on a plain paper although i;m the only nominee in my father's account .
all i want to ask you that if he asks me for anything else , should i do it or lodge a complaint against him ??

But do you have siblings? You are saying you are only nominee but manager asking for apology from your siblings on plain paper for transactions after date of death and affidavit from you. But did he threaten to file a police complaint on you for withdrawal of money? What was the amount you withdrawn? If you have siblings it would be a problem.
